.NYC - Updates to Domain Registrant Policy

There has been a slight change in the wording of the terms displayed when registering a .NYC domain. The new text is as follows: "The registrant agrees to all .NYC domain policies. A registrant may not license, sub-delegate or otherwise transfer .NYC domain names to third parties that fail to meet the Nexus Policy of .NYC." Please note that this has not changed the process in which a .NYC domain is registered.

Customers who register domains in name spaces with price protection before September 8, 2017 will have their domains renew without any increase in the registry fee. Legacy price protections are not available for .Click, .Christmas, .Help, .Link, .Mom, .Pics, .Tattoo. 

HEXONET recommends you review your current portfolio and renew, before the price increase, for multiple years, domain names you wish to keep. Uniregistry is also restructuring their premium pricing. As of September 8, 2017 there will only be 1 premium pricing tier for each respective TLD (in total there are 3 pricing tiers depending on the TLD). .NET Price Increase - February 1, 2018

Verisign announced a price increase to the annual price of .NET domains starting February 1, 2018.

• .NET Prices: increasing by 0.98* (net price: 0.82) USD per Domain/Year.
• HEXONET recommends renewing any domains ahead of this price increase.

Premium Domains

• .WIEN premium domains will be available August 31, 2017. Domains will renew at premium price levels.
• .SC premium domains, including sought-after 2-character domains,  available September 1, 2017. Domains will renew at their premium price levels.
• .TUBE Premium Domains - Effective September 26, 2017
  • Release of previously reserved names - .TUBE will be releasing thousands of previously reserved names that will be available for the general public on a first come/ first serve basis. Many of these names will be released at premium pricing, and others at standard pricing.
  • New, Lower Tiered Pricing - .TUBE will be lowering the price of thousands of premium domains by moving them into lower tiers. Many domain names previously in premium tiers will be released into standard GA pricing.

• .NRW premium domains
  • Premium Name Renewals - All premium names sold on or after October 2, 2017 (16:00 UTC) will renew at the .NRW standard rate. Any premium name registrations prior to October 2, 2017 (15:59 UTC ) will continue to maintain the existing premium renewal rates.
  • Revised Premium Name Lists - .NRW reserved and premium domains have undergone a substantial review to adjust existing prices, with the goal of aggressively pushing these domains through the registrar channel. As part of the effort, a large number of previously unpriced and premium priced names have been moved to the .NRW standard price model.

• .SHOP premium domains
  
  • On October 24, 2017, the .SHOP registry is creating a brand new tier of premium domains that will include approximately 14,000 3-letter names that were previously held in reserve. Unlike existing .SHOP tiers, domain names in this tier will renew at the standard renewal price.
  • At the same time, the registry will be removing Tier 2 premiums on September 1 to make room for the new tier. All 34 names in the existing Tier 2 will be placed into registry reserve. For further details around a domain list and pricing, please contact: [email protected]

• .DESIGN, .INK and .WIKI premium domains changes coming January 30, 2018:
  
  • Removing names from the premium list (i.e., making them available at General Availability pricing tier)
  • Changing the pricing of two character domains within each TLD
  • Releasing previously reserved names into premium tiers
  • Moving names between premium tiers
  • There will be no price increases that will affect our customers. Any domains that are increasing in price have been reserved by the registry to prevent them from being registered at the lower rate and creating a potential customer relations issue related to the impending increase. However, please note that some names are decreasing in price and still available. Thus, if registered and renewed before January 30, 2018, these names would require the current price though any renewal after January 30th would be at the lower rate.
